Hey all! For those of you who do not know me, my name's Jorge Gadala-Maria. I'm originally from Miami, Florida, a graduate of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, and a current student at the George Washington University in Washington, DC on track to a Political Communications degree. Here at GW, I'm a member of the Theta Zeta chapter of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, the only fraternity with it's very own philanthropy, Push America. Push America's mission statement is "Building leaders of tomorrow by serving people with disabilities today." This summer I will be participating in Push America's Journey of Hope.
What exactly will I be doing? Throughout the fall and spring semester, I'll be raising money for Push America and training for a 64 day bike ride across the United States. In the summer, starting in San Francisco, California and ending in Washington, DC, I will bike approximately 50-80 miles daily city-to-city and then have "Friendship Visits" with individuals with disabilities, focusing not on their disabilities, but rather their abilities. Click here for a map of the route I plan on taking. I set my fundraising goal at $6000 and I am very optimistic about reaching it. The only way I can do this is with your help. All the money donated goes straight to Push America. I will be paying for my flight to San Francisco, my bike, the bike accessories, and anything else right out of my pocket.
Donating to my Journey of Hope is easy from my rider page, just follow the link where it states "Click Here to Sponsor Jorge" and just like an online shopping purchase, insert your credit card information through this safe and secure portal. If you prefer to donate by cash or check, please e-mail me at jgadala@gwmail.gwu.edu and I will direct you on how to do this. Every little bit helps and goes a long way.
Thank you for visiting my page and God bless.
